The Myanmar Conflict: Reflection and Outlook for 2025

On the eve of the 4th Anniversary of Myanmar’s 2021 military coup, the US-ASEAN Business Council cordially invites you to join an in-person off-the-record discussion on Myanmar's evolving conflict. The discussion will feature the President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Myanmar, Adam Castillo, who is in town to launch the US-Burma Business Alliance, an advocacy project initiated by AMCHAM Myanmar. About Adam Castillo:  For over a decade, Adam Castillo has worked at the intersection of investment and security as Myanmar's top expert. Adam founded AGS Myanmar in 2013, Myanmar’s leading security risk management company. Adam employs over 1300 Myanmar nationals servicing international clients’ operations across Myanmar.  A former United States Marine Corps (USMC) commissioned officer and a Veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan). Adam has served on the American Chamber of Commerce in Myanmar’s (AMCHAM) Board of Governors since 2020. In 2023, he was elected President of the Board of Governors (AMCHAM), while serving as Vice -President from 2021-2023.  In 2021, he was also the winner of the Rising Star of the Year Award category at the 2020 APAC Chamber of Commerce Awards. He was selected by White Page International for their 100 Inspirational Leaders of Asia award in 2022 as well as Asia One Media’s Top 40 Most Influential Young Leaders in Asia 2023. He also currently serves on the Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC) Steering Committee for the US Embassy Rangoon since 2018.  Adam did his undergraduate at the University of California, Riverside and later received graduate degrees from Norwich University with a Master of Arts in International Relations – Terrorism & Conflict and a Master of Business Administration in 2016. Arkkarapa Pornchokborvorn joined the US-ASEAN Council as an Executive Assistant to the Chief Representative – Laos, Myanmar, Thailand. Prior joining the Council, she interned with the Department of Trade Negotiations, Ministry of Commerce. As an intern, she assisted on Thailand – EFTA states FTA negotiations meeting that was held in Bangkok. Moreover, she was handpicked to be in a welcoming group to host EFTA delegates for a factory tour in Thailand.
