March 24, 2024

Last year, Singapore’s Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA) and Singapore Exchange Regulation (SGX RegCo) launched a public consultation on the recommendations by the Sustainability Reporting Advisory Committee (SRAC) to advance climate reporting in Singapore. At the time, Singapore was the first country in Asia to roll out mandatory climate-related disclosures on non-listed companies. The Council have provided inputs to this consultation. The detailed response of ACRA & SGX RegCo’s public consultation has been published and can now be found here: https://www.acra.gov.sg/news-events/news-details/id/778.

To help businesses build climate reporting capabilities before they are mandated to do so, the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) and EnterpriseSG are also developing a Sustainability Reporting Grant (SRG) for companies. ACRA is also collaborating with professional bodies and industry stakeholders on capability-building initiatives in support of the Green Skills Committee. Members may wish to consider signing up for ACRA’s news updates to stay informed when updates on sustainability reporting are made available. Companies may reach out to ACRA at https://www.acra.gov.sg/feedback for further feedback and queries.
