March 24, 2024

The Advisory Committee on Sustainability Reporting (ACSR), led by the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC), launched an online public consultation in February 2024 regarding the adoption of sustainability disclosure standards in Malaysia. Stakeholders can provide feedback on implementation strategies set by the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB), including timing and assurance of sustainability disclosures, as announced by SC on January 8, 2024. Supported by the Ministry of Finance, ACSR includes representatives from institutions like Bank Negara Malaysia, Bursa Malaysia Berhad, and others. Kamarudin Hashim, SC managing director and ACSR chairman, emphasized extending sustainability requirements beyond listed issuers, urging participation from preparers, investors, and rating agencies to shape the national sustainability reporting framework. The Council is submitting inputs on the Proposed National Sustainability Reporting Framework to ACSR and an advocacy letter to the Government of Malaysia, along with additional inputs. For more information, please reach out to the Sustainability team.
