Dear Members, The US-ASEAN Business Council (US-ABC) is pleased to host a Welcome Reception scheduled for November 27 at the Langham Hotel Jakarta. The Welcome Reception is organized on the occasion of celebrating Amb. Brian McFeeters' appointment as the Council’s Senior Vice President and Regional Managing Director. This Welcome Reception will be held in conjunction with US-ABC Indonesia’s 2024 Election Update Briefing in collaboration with the Centre for Strategic International Studies of Indonesia (CSIS Indonesia) and Asia Group Advisors (AGA). The briefing will feature Mr. Arya Fernandes, Head of the Department of Politics and Social Changes at CSIS Indonesia, and Mr. Adam Schwarz, the Founder and CEO of the Asia Group Advisors, to provide insights into Indonesia’s political outlook. During the briefing, our prominent speakers will share their perspectives on the current political landscape of Indonesia leading up to the 2024 General Elections as well as analysis of the political-economic outlook of each President and Vice President candidate and its relation to the business environment. The US-ASEAN Business Council is pleased to open registration for the Digital Economy Mission to Indonesia 2024 (DEMIND 2024) from Tuesday, August 27 to Thursday, August 29 in Jakarta, Indonesia. The Mission offers a valuable platform for industry leaders to share their policy insights and recommendations for enhancing cybersecurity capacity, developing and implementing artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud regulations, supporting Indonesia’s long-term 2045 Indonesia Digital Vision, and addressing other important technology and financial services issues. The Mission will also feature a cybersecurity workshop on Thursday, August 29.
On June 28, 2024, the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin Indonesia) and the US-ASEAN Business Council, organized a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) titled "Indonesia's Cybersecurity Insight: Addressing Industry Challenges and Limitations."
The White Paper is part of the Council's comprehensive engagement strategy with the future Government and a strategic tool for shaping business policy narratives in the country. Entitled "Navigating Opportunities: Nurturing Dynamic Economic Policies in Indonesia," the White Paper aims to apprise future leadership of critical issues across various industries, identify existing regulatory challenges and opportunities, and offer actionable insights as well as strategic recommendations for achieving a more friendly investment climate and healthier economic partnership. The White Paper will also shed light on the overall contributions of US businesses in Indonesia by providing anecdotal stories and a consolidated annex report of companies' corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives to identify potential collaborations and encourage strengthened public-private partnership.
On October 18, the US-ASEAN Business Council, alongside Kadin Indonesia and the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN), launched “Kadin’s Industry Report and Strategic Guide: Cybersecurity for a Sustainable and Resilient Digital Indonesia” as a foundation for the country’s strengthening of national cybersecurity defenses.
The US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC) is pleased to continue our flagship capacity-building program, the SME Workshop Series: Inclusive, Green, and Innovative ASEAN MSMEs. This event will be conducted on the sidelines of the upcoming 18th ASEAN Coordinating Committee on MSME (ACCMSME) Meeting in Bali, Indonesia on the Week of October 21 – 25, 2024. The overall workshop will deliver the theme of “Transforming Indonesian and ASEAN MSMEs through Digital Trade and Sustainable Practices.”
