October 31, 2024

On October 24, 2024, the US-ASEAN Business Council presented at the 46th ASEAN Ministers on Agriculture and Forestry (AMAF) meeting, chaired by Myanmar. The Council’s presentation by Amb. Brian McFeeters (ret.) highlighted collaboration in sustainable agriculture, the One Health Framework, and accelerating digital technologies to strengthen resilience in agriculture and forestry. Through the theme of “Harnessing Sustainability and Digital Innovation for ASEAN’s Agriculture Future,” USABC seeks to emphasize its member-led initiative as transformative examples, including Cargill’s Smart Farming Project in Thailand, Google’s EduFarmers initiative in Indonesia, and Bayer’s ForwardFarming Project in Vietnam.

These initiatives demonstrate USABC’s collaborative efforts to drive technological advancements in farming, enhance resource management, and support the region’s shift toward sustainable practices. Following the presentation, ASEAN ministers and USABC agreed to enhance initiatives addressing climate change, food security, and public health. Deputy Secretary General Satvinder Singh praised the Council’s role in fostering practical, sustainable innovation across ASEAN agriculture.
