Margaret Hanson-Muse is the Chief Operating Officer of US-ABC. She oversees the Council’s strategic planning, IT, human resources, budgeting, membership, and communications functions.  She is President of the USABCI, a 501(c)3 organization.  

Prior to joining the Council, Ms. Hanson-Muse was a senior diplomat with the U.S. Department of Commerce. Fluent in Spanish and French, her international assignments included Singapore/ASEAN, India, Mexico, Peru, Colombia, Cote d’Ivoire, Costa Rica. As an Assistant Professor, she taught national security-related courses and Strategic Leadership at the Eisenhower School of Resource Management at the National Defense University.  She created and taught the school’s first Transformational Leadership course, and published an article entitled “Reality Injection: The True Cost of COVID” in collaboration with four co-authors.  

Previously, Ms. Hanson-Muse worked as a sales, finance, and marketing management professional at Allstate Insurance, General Electric, and Sprint/Telenet. 

Ms. Hanson-Muse serves on the Finance and Audit Committee as a Trustee for the Pan American Development Foundation, the Strategic Planning Committee as a Director for the International Folk Art Market, and the Family and Peer Group of Women Corporate Directors’ Singapore Chapter.  She is a Duke Global Educator and a volunteer mentor and facilitator for FutureLink Maryland.   

Ms. Hanson-Muse graduated from Brandeis University with a B.A. cum laude in Spanish and Latin American Studies.  She received her MBA in Marketing and Finance from Columbia University. She completed the IIX Singapore Executive Certificate Program: Financing the SDGs in Impact Investing.
