The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) has finalized the draft Decree on Rooftop Solar Power (RSP Decree) and submitted to the government. The document is expected to be issued shortly. The Council is pleased to invite members to an online briefing on key takeaways from the RSP Decree and an update on the energy landscape in Vietnam.

Background: With the backing of the new leadership headed by General Secretary To Lam, the government is pushing for new legislation that would help address the challenges in Vietnam’s energy sector. Besides the RSP Decree, the government has also directed MOIT to revise the national Power Development Plan Number 8 (PDP8), which was just issued last May. The briefing will provide an update on Vietnam’s energy landscape and help members seize opportunities arising from these new rules.

Speaker Bio:

Mr. Ha graduated from Hanoi Economics University, and obtained advanced degrees from Lund University and Roskilde University. He served as a researcher at the Institute of Science and Technology Policy and Strategy for nearly twenty years before leaving for the private sector, starting Vietbid Consulting Company, where he has been a Principal and CEO.

At Vietbid, he has been working on several sectors, notably energy, ICT, manufacturing etc. His expertise includes trade and industry policy and regulations, private sector development, state enterprise reform. His clients are wide ranged, including international institutions, Vietnam’s government agencies, private foreign and domestics businesses.
