Vietnam and Cambodia Strengthen Bilateral Ties with High-Level Exchanges
On January 22, Vietnam National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man welcomed Cambodia’s First Vice President of the Senate, Ouch Borith, to the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho. The visit underscored the commitment of both nations to fostering closer parliamentary collaboration and people-to-people connections. During their meeting, both sides praised the growing partnership, emphasizing the importance of sustained cooperation in regional peace and development. The visit coincided with Ouch Borith’s participation in the Francophone Parliamentary Forum on Sustainable Agriculture and Climate Change in Vietnam. Borith’s discussions with Vietnamese leaders focused on advancing economic ties, trade, and shared efforts in addressing critical issues like climate adaptation and food security. Secretary-General To Lam highlighted the need for strategic measures to deepen economic and security cooperation between the two nations. He commended Cambodia’s recent progress under the leadership of King Norodom Sihamoni and the Cambodian People’s Party, while Borith reaffirmed Cambodia’s commitment to strengthening its traditional friendship with Vietnam.
In recent years, Vietnam and Cambodia have engaged in frequent high-level exchanges that have significantly deepened their cooperation across various sectors. These efforts were acknowledged by Kin Phea, Director General of Cambodia’s Institute of International Relations, who noted the robust collaboration in diplomacy, national defense, and security. Both sides reiterated their shared commitment to comprehensive cooperation, long-term stability, and mutual trust, with Vietnam reaffirming its support for Cambodia’s development and international aspirations. As the two countries look ahead, leaders expressed confidence in building on past successes to ensure sustainable growth and prosperity for the region.
