IPEF Delivers Commercial Results in Clean Energy Pillar
On June 6, the United States along with 13 other Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity (IPEF) partners launched the inaugural IPEF Clean Economy Investor Forum in Singapore. As a key initiative under the IPEF Pillar three Clean Energy Agreement, the Investor Forum brought togetherpolicymakers, investors, and project developers to mobilize investments in clean energy infrastructure, technology, and projects. The Forum successfully hosted 300 participants and identified 69 sustainable infrastructure projects worth over US$23 billion, including about $6 billionof investment-ready projects for investors.
The Forum’s initial success demonstrates the U.S. commitments to the Indo-Pacific region, specifically Southeast Asia, as seven ASEAN countries – Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam – make up half of IPEF partners. It also materializes and shows what IPEF can do commercially for its partner countries in the clean energy sector, and America’scontribution to addressing common challenges such as climate change. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo emphasized the importance of the IPEF framework for U.S. businesses as it “will position U.S. businesses to find opportunities to invest, grow and expand in some of the most dynamic economies in the world.”
