Brunei Launches New Petroleum Development Partnership

On January 7, Brunei’s Royal Government signed a joint venture deal with Singapore’s Rotary Engineering to set up a local Bruneian subsidiary specializing in ancillary infrastructure development for the national oil & gas industry. Rotary Engineering has an existing presence in several Organization of the Petroleum Exporting States (OPEC) and OPEC+ member nations. Additionally, many US oil & gas companies are among the Singaporean company's partners and clientele.
Rotary Engineering’s operations primarily involve the construction of resource storage tanks and petrochemical treatment operations, vital services for foreign oil & gas developers. Brunei’s Minister of Finance and Economy II, Dato Dr Hj Mohd Amin Liew Abdullah, was one of the principal signatories to the agreement. He went on to elaborate that this joint venture “aims to establish a robust engineering hub right here in Brunei and offers invaluable knowledge and technology transfer to our local workforce.”
What is now officially designated as Brunei Rotary Engineering will supply engineering, procurement, and construction services to foreign and domestic companies with Brunei-based operations. Its aims are to expand to other parts of Borneo, namely neighboring Malaysian and Indonesian states. The entity hopes to enhance Brunei’s role in regional and international energy markets, utilizing its reach and existing partners such as the US private sector.
